Description

Leaving Ullapool, take the A835 North out of Ullapool. Once you pass the golf course (approx 1mile) you have a 1-mile climb to the top of Morefield Brae.

Stop at the top to admire breathtaking views of Ullapool and the surrounding area, before descending steeply towards the Rhue turnoff.

The singletrack road winds its way for close to a mile with picturesque houses dotted along the road. Once you reach the car park you will see the Rhue lighthouse clinging onto the rocks, looking out towards the Summer Isles, sandwiched between Beinn Gobhlach and Ben Mor Coigach.

The path to the lighthouse is ridable (only with MTB’s) with the exception of a small river crossing. Otherwise, lock the bike at the car park gate/fence and make your own way on foot. On return, we highly recommend taking a slight detour and head for Ardmair Beach for a picnic or even a wild swim!

This is route is done best with a Mountain Bike.
